Uniquely masculine. Scandinavian design inspired by architecture. Created by Morel in 1997, the Öga brand was the first line used to illustrate the group’s creative potential. A Swedish designer was given carte blanche to develop an innovative concept in eyewear, taking his principal inspiration from contemporary Scandinavian architecture.
The result—Öga is now a leading brand in designer eyewear. Öga mixes radical design with a subtle combination of technology and high quality materials, creating a demanding style that makes no concessions, in which frame comfort does not detract from the purity and originality of the design. Eyewear is elevated beyond functionality to the status of art form in the grand tradition of Scandinavian design.
The Öga brand fits well into the esteemed sphere of designer eyewear, with a focus above all on design and quality rather than extravagance of form. ÖGA is designed for the self-confident city dweller, a man with a strong and contemporary aesthetic sense interested in breaking new ground. On the lookout for a beautiful contemporary object, he seeks above all to please himself with his purchase. He takes care of his appearance and wants a different frame that asserts his personality and creative spirit, but is neither showy nor compromising of comfort.
The brand has around 50 models in the collection, and in 2008 Öga developed its new ÖGA+ segment, a line that includes exceptional, unique, limited-edition products boasting innovative technology. Uniquely masculine, it is the only collection built with a Scandinavian design inspired by architecture. First design: a discreet and unique frame with temples that combine two materials—wood and synthetic glass—which gives the impression of a coherent material, as though created by nature. Two patents were filed by Morel in the production of these incomparable frames.
